The Cotswold Playhouse is the building, but it is owned and managed by The Cotswold Players, a registered charity, which is managed by a board of trustees. Our constitution can be found here.

As well as a modern, fully equipped stage and auditorium, our theatre offers multiple changing rooms, storage for our set, costumes and props, a welcoming bar and lounge, and even a dance studio.

We typically stage five or six productions of our own each year, from classics to musicals, drama to pantomime. And we increasingly take our productions out into the community: we have recently performed at the Stroud Theatre Festival, the Stroud Shakespeare Festival, St Laurence Church and Stroud Brewery.

We also make the facilities available to visiting companies, schools, dance classes, toddler groups and many more.
Everything is run by volunteers, so we are always keen to welcome new members.

We may be unpaid, but we aspire to professional standards in everything we do. Why not join us? We can offer you fun, friendship and the chance to be involved in all aspects of theatre, in a relaxed, welcoming and safe environment.

Patrick Howell’s new book "Consistently Brilliant on a Breezy Hilltop – A History of the Cotswold Players – The First 100 Years", is now on sale.
bookThe author has spent 3½ years researching the Players’ extensive archives, including play lists, programmes, posters and photographs and has conducted many interviews with past and present members. The book is full of intrigue, on and off-stage drama, humour, sadness, considerable frustration and much more. It contains over 300 pages and 74 photographs spanning nearly 100 years.

It will be of great interest to anyone connected with the Players, who has an interest in the history of amateur dramatics or who follows the history of the Stroud area.

The paperback version costs £10 and the hardback £18 and copies will be on sale at the Playhouse whenever there is a performance.
Better still, you can also buy the book NOW simply by clicking on one of the buttons below.
