The crane arrives…

Today the floor beams for the ground floor were lifted into position.  The photo shows the enormous crane used for the purpose.   The lift went almost without a hitch and was on programme.  Well, not the original programme because that is already months behind schedule, but the revised programme of 15th October!

The next phase is to build the walls up to the next level so that the remainder of the floor beams and the concrete stairs can be craned into position in the second week of December.

The theatre has been without electricity now for 6 months and, because there are no outside windows, there is not much that can be done inside the original building until it is restored.  Would you believe it that the earliest date we can expect it back is mid-January?   It is so frustrating.   The good news is that this will definitely not affect the production of Oliver!, which is scheduled for performance in April.
